         LakeTaupo is a breathtaking and beautiful Place to visit. Also it is full of fun activities and

cool places to visit. It has over 25 bays with cute towns that have fun gift and trinket shops, candy stores,

boutiques, handmade jewelry, wood carving and even a glass blowing place! On the lake take a tour boat to see

ancient Maori rock carvings on shore side cliffs. Also jet skiing, water tubeing, boating are just a fraction

of the water activities available. Make sure to to sit in the lakes natural hydrothermal vent pools where hot

mineral water flows through openings in the lakes floor naturally heating areas of water. Also if you are

into swimming, visit the Orakei Korako cave and thermal park also there are additional hot spots and

steam spouts around the lake.

      Be sure to walk on the Great lake trail which in a fun jungle-like trail that circles the lake. Along the 

trail take a look at the huge Huka falls (waterfalls) that you can walk under to veiw! 

      Nearby Taupo is Mt. Ngaruhoe, which played the role of Mt. Doom in the Lord of the Rings trilogy!!! See

the pictureto the right? That is Mt. Doom on the Lord of the Rings cover! Also the Hobbit and other Lord

of the Rings movies were filmed in New Zealand but not near Taupo like Mt. Doom.
