Taupo, New Zealand

          Many types of rocks and minerals can be found at lake Taupo. For example ignimbrite rock, looser temphra (ash and pumice)can be found, welded ignibrite, silica rich rocks, quartz, rhyolite and basalt. Most of the rocks listed are igneous rock which is rock formed by cooling lava from volcanic erutions.

         Before Taupo erupted the soil was a yellow-brown loam soil. Ash and other factors from the volcanoes eruptions have changed the soil to yellow-brown pumice soil.
